Glaucoma Service

The Glaucoma Service provides evaluation, and medical and surgical tratment of glaucoma and diseases characterized by increased intraocular pressure. Management includes proper drug therapy, laser procedures, and/or trabeculectomies. Perimetry, gonioscopy, and optic evaluation are used in the diagnosis and follow-up of glaucoma patients.

Glaucoma is a family of diseases that affects pressure within the eye, damaging the optic nerve. When pressure inside the eye increases, blind spots in peripheral areas of vision may occur. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the United States.
