Service Recognition

Policy:

The Service Award Program recognizes full-time administrative and full-time staff personnel for years of service to the University. This is supplemental to any other recognition or award. Employee Relations/Equal Opportunity Office (ER/EEO), ext. 2-5723, administers this program.

Service is the length of time an individual has been a full-time employee with BYU or BYU-Hawaii beginning with the original hire date. Temporary or special employment or service with other units of the Church do not count under this program. Any approved leave of absence is not an interruption and continues to count toward years of service. A person who terminates employment and returns to a full-time position may be able to combine the periods of employment for a service award as outlined in the Months of Service Policy.

At the end of each five-year period of full-time employment, the employee will receive a certificate and gift.

The dean, director, department chair, or manager should present the award at an appropriate department function.

Time-Line:

Early Spring: Departments receive a list of individuals in their department who will be receiving service awards that year.
Late Spring: Individual service award recipients receive an ordering form with various award options. They may schedule an appointment with D-268 ASB to look at awards in person.
Early Summer: Awards ordered by the Administrative Assistant, ER/EEO/HRD
Fall & Winter: Departments give awards to individuals, usually a the department Christmas Party.
