Glaucoma ServiceThe Glaucoma Service provides evaluation, and medical and surgical tratment of glaucoma and diseases characterized by increased intraocular pressure. Management includes proper drug therapy, laser procedures, and/or trabeculectomies. Perimetry, gonioscopy, and optic evaluation are used in the diagnosis and follow-up of glaucoma patients. Glaucoma is a family of diseases that affects pressure within the eye, damaging the optic nerve. When pressure inside the eye increases, blind spots in peripheral areas of vision may occur.
