Web Filtering

What does this product do?

This product helps provide a safer environment when browsing the Internet by preventing access to inappropriate Web sites.

How do I obtain this product?

This service is only available from certain areas on-campus, such as labs, public jacks, residence halls and wireless access. Access will automatically go through the Web Filtering Proxy. This service is not available from off-campus.

What are the options?

If a department is using this service, all access from that location will automatically go through Web Filtering Proxy. There is no way to bypass this service once it has been enabled. An employee belonging to a department that does not use Web Filtering Proxy can configure the browser on their office computer to use Web Filtering Proxy. For assistance with configuring your browser, refer to the link(s) in the left sidebar.

This service is included in the labs, public jacks, residence halls and wireless access. Access automatically goes through the filtering proxy.

Support/Questions

If pages are found that should be blocked or unblocked, employees should contact their CSR or select the "Exception Requests" link on the left sidebar. Students should select the "Exception Requests" link on the left sidebar. Additional instructions are also available on the blocked warning page.
