  • The Dulles Greenway, a 14-mile extension of the Dulles Toll Road, connects Washington Dulles International Airport with Leesburg, Virginia.

  • Plans for the Greenway began in 1988 when the Virginia General Assembly authorized private toll road development under the 1988 Highway Corporation Act of Virginia.

  • Construction was completed six months ahead of schedule, allowing the road to open on September 29th, 1995.

  • The Greenway was built in 6 segments by 4 different contractors at a cost that exceeded $350 million. The initial construction project included 36 bridge structures utilizing over 19.8 million pounds of steel.

  • The Dulles Greenway is 124 lanes miles comprised of 84 mainline miles and 40 miles of ramps and service roads. It has 11 toll plazas with 38 toll lanes offering cash, credit card and electronic payment methods.

  • The Dulles Greenway incorporates innovative maintenance procedures with state-of-the-art smart highway technology, which includes an Automatic Vehicle Identification system (AVI) commonly referred to as Smart Tag/E-ZPass.

  • Autostrade International form an American subsidiary, Autostrade International of Virginia, O&M;, Inc. to assume responsibility of maintaining and operating the Dulles Greenway. Autostrade has over thirty years of experience in the development, construction, maintenance and operation of toll road networks in its native country of Italy.

  • The Dulles Greenway was designed to accommodate space for future mass transit development.

  • The Dulles Greenway is the gateway to Loudoun County, providing improved access for both passengers and freight traveling to and from Washington Dulles International Airport.
