About sltrib.com
Welcome to sltrib.com, the Web edition of The
Salt Lake Tribune, Utah's largest statewide newspaper.
We offer our web edition as an appealing, interactive
and more visually oriented supplement to the print version, as well
as an up-to-the-minute source for news, information on community
happenings statewide, entertainment, outdoor recreation, classifieds,
chat and
personals, weather, breaking news and much more.
It is not our goal to replicate the print edition
online; the best way to ensure you are getting everything in the hardcopy
edition of the Tribune is to
subscribe for home delivery. Rather, we repackage and expand
on select portions of our local newspaper content as a free service
to Internet users and as a extensive supplement to the experience of
print subscribers.
Our service began in 1994, when The Salt Lake Tribune
launched Utah OnLine, a Wasatch-Front-area dial-up
news and information bulletin-board service. On Nov. 26, 1995, we
introduced
our Web edition and were one of the first newspapers worldwide to
do so.
Our look and format are designed to give both experienced
Web users and novices somewhere they can quickly access the news and
feel comfortable doing so. We constantly seek to improve our Web offerings,
so please contact us with your ideas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I
find a past edition or older story?
Stories from the past 30 days are available
online via the search.
Older stories are available through the Archives.
Click the "Archives" button
on any page to access the archives. Our online records go back to September
1990. (For older stories, please consult the public library or call our Data
Center
at 801-257-8930). For general archive questions, e-mail tribaccess@newsbank.com.
When
is the online Tribune updated?
The site is updated constantly with breaking news, updates,
photos and multimedia. Content from the daily print
edition is
online
by 5
a.m. Mountain Time
daily. Typically, it is available between 2 and 3 a.m. Film
Finder is updated as new films premiere (typically
Fridays, sometimes Wednesdays and holidays).
Why
am I getting an old edition online? Why isn't the page updated with
the current day's paper?
As stated above, sltrib.com is updated
daily by 5 a.m. Mountain Time (usually between 2
and 3 a.m. Mountain Time) with the current day's edition
WITHOUT FAIL. If you are seeing an old edition, it is due
to your browser cache. Refer to your browser's Help documentation
for instructions on clearing your cache.
Do you
offer comics, horoscopes or puzzles online?
No. We don't have permission from the syndicates
to reprint this content.
Do you offer Internet-access
services?
No. We do not offer any type of Internet access
through third-party companies.
Why
didn't the "email this
article" function work?
Both the recipient's email and sender's
email fields are required for the "email this article" function
to work.
The error message: "The recipient's email address is not a
valid address," will appear when either nothing has been entered
in the To (email address) field or if the email address entered
is not valid.
The error message: "The sender's (your) email address is not
a valid address," will appear when either nothing has been
entered in the Your email address field or if the email address
entered is not valid.
Neither the your name field nor the Brief message field are required
for the "mail this article" function to work.
If you have entered the recipient's email address and your email
address correctly and you still receive an error, please contact
us at webmaster@sltrib.com and include the error message you received
when trying to use the "email an article" function.
How much of The Salt Lake Tribune is
online?
It is not our goal to replicate the print edition
online; the best way to ensure you are getting everything in
the hardcopy edition of the Tribune is to
subscribe for home delivery. Instead, we repackage and expand
on select portions of our local newspaper content as a free service
to Internet users and as supplement to the experience of print
subscribers.
The national and world news you see on our site is updated constantly
and automatically by The Associated Press. As a result, the Nation/World
section content from the print edition is largely unavailable on
our site.
Display advertising and certain graphical and syndicated elements
are not reproducible in online form.
If you notice a story missing from the Web edition,
try using the search page.
Where are your (local, sports, technology, business)
stories?
The task bar at the top of the any page will
guide you through all of our available section. Specialized
content sections are listed via drop-downs from the main links at the top. Roll
over the menu with your mouse to see the secondary links.
Where do I find obituaries?
Click on the Obituaries button on any page. Obituaries
back to mid 1990 can be found in the Archives. Search by first and last name and the word "obituaries"
for the best results. Obituaries older than that can be accessed
at most Salt Lake area public libraries. The obituaries are hosted
by a third-party service, Legacy.com. For questions and comments
on the hosting service, you can e-mail them at info@legacy.com.
How can I subscribe to the Tribune print
edition?
For subscription information, call the circulation
department at 801-237-2900 or click
here to subscribe online.
How do I submit a classified ad?
The classifieds are handled by the independent
advertising company, Newspaper Agency Corporation. For information
on placing an ad, call 801-237-2000. To place an ad online, click
here.

All information on our Web edition is copyright The
Salt Lake Tribune and associated news services. No material
may be reproduced or reused without explicit permission from The
Salt Lake Tribune. To obtain permission, send e-mail to webmaster@sltrib.com.
While The Tribune does

Web sites,
