Our reception staff will be happy to help you on your arrival at the Library, and members of staff are on hand throughout the Library should you require any assistance during your visit.
The Library reserves the right to examine all bags on entry to the Library.
We ask that readers and visitors wishing to visit the Reading Rooms leave all coats and bags in the lockers provided. A £1 coin (refundable) per locker is required.
A number of members of staff are qualified in first aid. Any accident or illness should be reported either to the supervisor of one of the Reading Rooms or to a member of the uniformed security staff in the Central Hall.
The fire alarm is a continuous ringing. Readers should evacuate the building as directed by members of staff and follow the green signs “Emergency EXIT Brys” to make their way to the front outside terrace of the Library, using the doors on the lower ground floor (Lefel -1).

The Library supports the Citizen's Charter and service standards are prominently displayed. Any comments about services can be made to a senior member of staff on duty at service points. If you are not satisfied with the explanation given, you should complete a Citizen's Charter Comments Card (available at service points) or send a letter to the Librarian. You will receive a reply within 10 working days.
Suggestions for acquisitions may be made by word of mouth to a senior member of staff on duty, by filling a Citizen's Charter Comments Card, or by letter to the Librarian.
