North Reading Room

North Reading Room

The North Reading Room is used to read books and journals published after 1800 and original copies of newspapers. Access to the North Reading Room and the Library’s collections is dependent on a valid Readers’ ticket.

Users of laptop computers are welcome, and designated tables containing a power supply are situated at both ends of the Reading Room. Tables designated for newspaper reading are situated in the east side of the Reading Room.

The Reading Room contains a collection of general reference materials and Welsh and Celtic reference materials. A number of Welsh and Celtic journals are also located in the Reading Room for easy access.

A Subject Catalogue of Welsh localities and a Catalogue of Welsh biography are housed in the Reading Room.

Accessing print material

The printed books, journal and newspaper collection can be accessed via the online catalogue. Pre 1986 materials unavailable on the online catalogue may be available through a microfiche catalogue, situated in the Catalogue Room adjacent to the Reading Room. All materials are ordered via the online catalogue and can be delivered to specific tables in the North Reading Room.

A private study room, known as the Erina Morris room is situated on the east side of the Reading Room. The room can be booked in advance at the North Reading Room Counter.
