There are works in various media – prints, paintings, drawings, sculptures and cartoons.

The emphasis is on materials of Welsh interest, with the materials portraying places, buildings, and the landscape in Wales and the border counties.

The portraits are of people of Welsh origin, who live in Wales and other persons who have been prominent in Welsh life or history.

Other lesser-known anonymous works are also included as well as ephemera material, so long as they contribute to our knowledge of place, person or custom in Wales.
