Welsh Journals Online

Welsh Journals Online will be a new web resource, available free to all. It will contain searchable texts of all the major Welsh and Wales-related journals, including academic, cultural, literary, scientific, historical, archaeological and political publications in Welsh and English.

NLW, supported by WHELF, has received funding from JISC and the Welsh Assembly Government to undertake the scanning and indexing of 600,000 pages from journals published after 1900 in a two-year project running from January 2007 to December 2008.

The project is contacting the journal publishers asking for permission to mount the content on the web as a digital resource. A list of titles will be added once agreement is reached.

NLW will maintain the content once created, and hopes in time to extend its coverage to include all 20th and 21st century publications relating to Wales, and also to cover the pre-1900 titles.

The resource will be launched in 2008.

In the meantime, if you have any queries please contact: Martin Locock, Project Manager, mlc@llgc.org.uk Gwenno Dafydd, Liaison Officer, gwenno.dafydd@llgc.org.uk
