Israel seizes Palestinian MinisterIsrael has seized a Minister in the Cabinet of the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyeh. It has also kept up air attacks on what it says are Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The attacks are part of an expanded campaign against the ruling Islamist group. Palestinian security officials say Minister of State Wasfi Kabha was arrested overnight in his village near the West Bank city of Jenin. The Israeli Army has said that it has arrested a Hamas member, but it has not identified him. Mr Kabha is the second Cabinet minister to have been seized by Israeli forces in the past week. They earlier arrested Education Minister Naser al-Shaer of Hamas and 32 other officials in the West Bank. - Reuters |
