The Basingstoke Canal
above Lock 13 (3K) This waterway is generally regarded as being one of the most beautiful in the United Kingdom. In the January 1997 edition of Waterways World it was stated that the Basingstoke Canal provides "the perfect antidote to modern living", the opportunity to "relax among the lilies, the kingfishers and endless dragonflies" and to enjoy a "level of peace and tranquility which is becoming harder to find". See for yourself in these pages how the canal was restored and brought back to life, and is now a public amenity for everyone to enjoy!

The site is currently being redesigned and expanded, going online progressively during 2000-2003.

The Wey & Arun Canal
The Wey & Arun Canal runs through Surrey and West Sussex in Southern England. Much of the canal is no longer navigable - the Wey & Arun Canal Trust aims to restore the Wey and Arun Canal back to navigation. When it is restored, there will be an inland waterway link from London, via the rivers Wey and Arun, to as far as Littlehampton on the Sussex coast. The Trust has several ongoing restoration projects, and lengths of the canal are now in water.
