Manhattan

Chelsea Now - A weekly launched at the end of September, 2006, it is published by Community Media LLC, which also puts out The Villager, Downtown Express, Gay City News, and NYC Plus.

Downtown Express - Lower Manhattan community weekly.

East Harlem Online - Community calendars, East Harlem's art, virtual tours, info on officials, demographics, and community boards. Highly recommended.

Hells Kitchen Online - Grass roots reporting from Hell's Kitchen, or "Clinton" if you prefer.

Hudson Heights Owners Coalition - The Hudson Heights Owners Coalition is an association of owner occupied residential properties in Manhattan between J. Hood Wright Park (173rd Street) and Fort Tryon Park (Margaret Corbin Circle at 192nd Street). Includes a community calendar.

Little Italy Neighbors Association - Concerned with development issues, this frequently updated site is a valuable resource for a fabled neighborhood.

Ludlow Block Association - Local group whose primary concern is the gentrification of their neighborhood. Site features listings, info about local business and contact numbers (including beat cops!).

Manhattan - About.com's Manhattan page is a guide to the borough, but also features citywide news prominently (something the other borough's pages don't do). Find out how to get married at City Hall, or read an article about finding a no-fee apartment.

Manhattan Borough President - Official site of Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer

Manhattan Community Board 11 - Manhattan Community Board 11 represents East Harlem. Along with basic community board information, its Web site has a good list of links and resources, including public officials, police precincts, and hospitals. The board also offers an email newsletter.

Morningside Heights Residents Association - Site contains information on the architecture, history, as well as current zoning and planning issues for the almost gentrified area near Columbia.

Murray Hill Neighborhood Association - Information about the volunteer community organization dedicated to preserving the residential character of Murray Hill, an area just south of Grand Central Terminal. Includes a newsletter, history, events listings and membership information.

NYC Upper East Side - Extensive calendar about all goings-on Upper East Side; links to businesses, shopping, news and community info.

New York Resident - A weekly that covers news, politics and entertainment of the borough.

Upper East Side - A wealth of links on all things Upper East Side - art, dining, shopping, health, finance, and even pets. Light on text, but heavy on links.

Villager, The - Greenwich Village community weekly.

Washington Heights & Inwood Report - Thorough local site with news, events and forums. Extremely practical are their listings of local institutions -- daycare, libraries, parks and precincts.

Washington Heights and Inwood Online - A thorough site with information on Manhattan's two northernmost neighborhoods. Includes a full calendar of events, features and message boards, a gallery of photographs, a lengthy list of links, and a serious history lesson that contains over fifty articles about the area.

West Side - Your basic neighborhood site: classifieds, business listings etc.
