Standards strengthened for PM2.5 particle pollution Sep 21 - The daily fine particle standard was made more stringent, from 65 micrograms of particles per cubic meter to 35 micrograms. The revised standards will reduce premature deaths, heart attacks, and hospital admissions, and is expected to yield billions of dollars per year in health care savings.

New report shows reduced air pollution in eastern states Sep 13 - In 2005 emissions of ozone-forming nitrogen oxides (NOx) in 19 eastern states and DC decreased by 11 percent, improving air quality for millions of people. NOx emissions were reduced by 57 percent since 2000 and by 72 percent since 1990.
