The Alaska Public Offices Commission says a lobbyist can go on working for Sarah Palin's campaign. John Bitney is a longtime Alaska lobbyist who has represented groups such as the Alaska Nurses Association, the Alaska State Homebuilders Association and Catholic Community Services. Bitney joined Palin's campaign after she won the August 22 Republican primary. He is the campaign's issues coordinator.   Full Story

Untouched sections of national forests won't be getting roads paved through them, under a court ruling Wednesday. A federal judge in San Francisco is reinstating a ban on such construction, which President Clinton put in place. The ruling overturns a move by the Bush administration to get rid of Clinton's ban, and instead have a voluntary state-by-state petition process. Environmentalists and states filed suit over that, successfully arguing it violates federal environmental laws.   Full Story
