Locations: Mr. Mime doesn't appear
in the wild, but you can get him in a trade. Go to the building South
of Diglett's Cave on Route #2 and talk to the guy inside. He will trade
you the only Mr. Mime in the game for an Abra (Blue/Red) or a Clefairy (Yellow).
Since Abra doesn't appear in Pokemon Blue, you'll need to trade one from
Red or Yellow first. |
This Pokémon naturally
learns the following techniques: |
LV 01 - Barrier
LV 15 - Confusion |
LV 23 - Light Screen
LV 31 - Double Slap |
LV 39 - Meditate
LV 47 - Substitute |
|
Tips: The creepy Mr. Mime -- as
rare as a Mewtwo, but nowhere near as strong. Still,
if you're looking for a funny, somewhat unsettling Psychic type, this is
a good choice. Mr. Mime's got good HP, Speed and Special stats, but his Attack
and Defense are only average. To make things worse, his lineup of moves consist
of too many status-altering techniques. Barrier and Light Screen are decent
defensive moves, but what good are they if you can't damage and defeat your
opponent? Luckily, Mr. Mime learns the helpful Confusion technique at a low
level. But it will be tough to succeed with this Pokemon on higher levels
unless you add Psychic (TM 29), Hyper Beam (TM 15) or Thunder (TM 25) to
the list. Mr. Mime's fanciest (albeit again defensive) maneuver is learned
at level 47: Substitute. This technique creates a decoy that absorbs some
of your opponent's attacks. A good choice if you managed to poison your opponent
with another Pokemon prior to switching to Mr. Mime.
Psychic Pokemon like Mr. Mime are your best choice against
Fighting and Poison Pokemon, but because they have few weaknesses, they can
also act as a wildcard of sorts
against all kinds of other types. When battling
any Psychic type, remember that their biggest weakness is to Bug Pokemon.
A move like Pin Missile does wonders, but any other non-Fighting moves work
well, too. And remember, never send a Fighting or a Poison (or Ghost) Pokemon
into battle with a Psychic. Luckily for Psychic Pokemon, few Bugs actually
know any decent Bug techniques -- but if you're stuck using a Psychic type
against a powerful Bug, remember that moves like Seismic Toss cause damage
regardless of type. |
