MADISON, Miss. -- The Madison County School Board and the Justice Department will meet in court again on Tuesday. The Madison County School Board wants a 1969 court-ordered segregation plan lifted.School superintendent Mike Kent said the board wants to give control back to local school districts instead of the Justice Department.Kent testified that the county spends money and divides resources equally between all schools so students should not have to be bussed across Madison County for school. Some kids have more than a 45-minute ride to class. But some parents said the northern part of the school district does not have equal resources under the order and they fear things could get worse if the plan is lifted.
