Psephos Index of National Legislatures
Notes

This index includes only genuine democratically elected legislatures.

Where both houses in bicameral legislatures have separate websites, both sites are given.

These links were tested and found to be alive and well on 4 October 2002, but since they are external links don't blame me if they don't work.

Africa

Many African countries are in a transition to democratic government. Where uncertainty exists as to the genuinely democratic nature of alegislative body, I have given it the benefit of the doubt. A number of African legislatures do not have websites.

Asia and the Pacific

Some legislative websites listed in other indexes were not functioning when tested on 4 October 2002.

Europe

Every country in Europe except Belarus has a democratically elected legislature. (The Vatican is technically a state but I do not regard it as a country.) The legislatures of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Monaco do not appear to have websites. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia has ceased to exist and its legislature's website has been closed. This index treats Montenegro and Serbia as independent states.

Central and South America

Every country in the Americas except Cuba and Haiti has a democratically elected national legislature. Some legislatures do not have websites. The legislative websites of Costa Rica, Honduras and Paraguay, and of the Colombian Chamber of Deputies, were not working as at 4 October 2002.
