Indigenous Health

Medicare Australia takes care of many of Australia’s national health programs, like Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). These programs help Australians get affordable health care and medicines.

We are working with Indigenous communities and health care providers to improve access to our services.

Keys Young Research Report

The Keys Young research report Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' Access to Medicare and the PBS Across Australia, conducted in 1997 was a landmark large scale qualitative and quantitative market research project into the use of Medicare and PBS by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in urban, rural and remote areas, and their health service providers.
