VANESSA ANGEL

The well-named Vanessa Angel, who turned heads and hearts in the TV series Weird Science and the movie hit Kingpin, was an Eileen Ford model and international cover-girl from age 16. And her name, she says, is quite real — indeed, she once confessed, "I almost changed it because I worried people thought of me as this triple-x girl."

Born in London, England, in 1966, the five-foot, eight-inch catwalk queen made her film debut in the small role of a Russian agent who sleeps with Dan Aykroyd in the comedy Spies Like Us (1985); she also appeared in the accompanying Paul McCartney video. She went on to become a veritable "It" girl, playing supermodels in such movies and telefilms as Another Chance, Sleep With Me and the USA Network hit The Cover Girl Murders. Angel has also played lead roles in Killer Instinct and the hit comedy Kingpin. Her distinctive and powerfully sexy beauty has also graced the miniseries Jackie Collins' Lady Boss; films, including King of New York; Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot; Made Men; HBO's Firetrap, with Dean Cain, John O'Hurley and Sabretooth co-star Jenna Gering; and the upcoming Baby Geniuses 2: Superbabies, with Jon Voight.

Angel's TV career is equally distinguished. After a leading guest-spot on The Equalizer, she played the recurring roles of Megan on Baywatch, Detective Peggy Elliott on Reasonable Doubts, and the alien Anise / Freya on Stargate SG-1 in 2000. In addition to her starring role on the USA Network and SCI FI's long-running Weird Science, Angel is well-remembered from two episodes of Melrose Place in which "I was this crazy, drugged out, bisexual supermodel who kissed Daphne Zuniga!"
