The American Revolution comes at ye fast.
So Claire and Jamie are in a very somber mood, indeed, in the new teaser for the back half of Outlander Season 7.
Starz released the first peek at the drama’s upcoming episodes Saturday in conjunction with World Outlander Day. As previously announced, the second half of Season 7 will premiere on Friday, Nov. 22, at 8/7c on Starz. (New episodes will be available at midnight Fridays on the Starz app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.)
The eight episodes left in Season 7 will find Claire, Jamie and Young Ian returning to Scotland, where — per the official synopsis — “the perils of the Revolutionary War force them to choose between standing by those they love and fighting for the land they have made their new home.” While that’s going on, Roger and Brianna “face new enemies across time, and must battle the forces that threaten to pull their family apart.” (View behind-the-scenes photos below.)
The series is currently filming its eighth and final season, which will consist of 10 episodes. On Saturday, Starz also announced three additions to the Season 8 cast. Kieran Bew (House of the Dragon) will play Capt. Charles Cunningham, a retired British soldier. Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe) will play his mother, Elspeth Cunningham. Carla Woodcock (Free Rein) will play Amaranthus Grey, who is described as “a new member of the Grey family.”
As previously reported, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts said Season 7 will also “revisit some of our favorite characters in different times and places,” and will feature the return of Graham McTavish (who plays Dougal MacKenzie), Nell Hudson (Laoghaire Fraser), Steven Cree (the elder Ian Murray), Lotte Verbeek (Geillis Duncan), Andrew Whipp (Brian Fraser) and Layla Burns (Joan MacKimmmie).
Sometime series star Tobias Menzies recently divulged to TVLine that he will not reprise his roles of Frank Randall or Jonathan Wolverton “Black Jack” Randall before the series signs off for good. “It would be great,” he said in an interview. “[But] no, you will not see me.”
The network also previously ordered a spinoff, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, centered on Jamie’s and Claire’s parents.
Are you looking forward to Outlander‘s return? Sound off in the comments!
On the one hand, I am very happy to see that we now have a release date (at least the month,) however I can’t help being disappointed in the fact that it is still 8 months away. The fact that initially when they did the promos it said “early 2024,” I was expecting anywhere from March to May (give or take.) Correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t the 7B episodes already filmed and in the can and ready to go?
Could not express myself any better! Boggles my mind!
The UK will not have a streaming platform for it by then, so we do not know if we will be able to view it at all. At least those who watch via STARZ will know they will be able to watch it.
Wonder why it’s taken so long to air if filming of 7B was completed emonths ago in 2023
I suspect Starz is trying to drag this out for as long as possible, with Prequel, 7B then final 8. They know they will lose a ton of subscribers when all over.
True. I plan to subscribe for a bit at times when Outlander is done to catch up on other related series.
100% and doing the same.
Outlander is moving to MGM PLUS in the UK. All the previous seasons will be available by the end of May 2024….and season 7B from November.
Filming was over 12 months ago, and now we have to wait until November, frak!
If I had known from the beginning how long this show would stretch out for i may not have gotten invested lol…at this rate we won’t get the series finale till 2026 after it was announced in January 2023..I like these characters and the story but man has it been an investment. I’m ready to wrap it up already.
November is to far out to keep the story fresh.
The work that has been put into this saga has been outstanding! It’s a shame that Covid and strikes have tarnished the presentation of the story.
I wish season 8 wasn’t the last. I love Outlander. They always cancel the good shows. I can’t wait for season 7 other half and season 8. It will be a sad day for me when it finally ends. I’m 71 years young and hope I get to see season 8. I will have no intention on leaving this earth soon.
It had to end some time! Hopefully you have read the books!
Praying that we both get to see all 8 seasons! You can’t leave until all 8 seasons are done. 😉 Hopefully we can find another good show to watch and you are here on this Earth even longer. ❤️🙏🏻
I am 76 years young spent half my reading life with Ms Gabaldon but will never buy another book of hers as she seems a money spinner. However I will deffo watch tv series
Watching all seasons again looking forward to more !
Thanks 💓
can’t wait but hope there are more sex scenes with Jamie and Claire, Brianna and Roger just don’t have the chemistry or she Brianna isn’t as elegant and sexy as Claire and Jamie together.
Love the books and the show. I will miss the show in my life. They have become family. Good job and thanks to the cast.
Might as well cancel Starz and re-subscribe then.
I just subscribed again for another $50 because it was said early 2024. Can’t get that money back. I wonder how many others did the same? Well played Starz. Well played.
We did!
Why so long after 1st half when it’s done and in the can?🙄😡
Yes very much but sad to hear it won’t continue. It was a great series to look forward to. Wish they would reconsider if not do a run off show!!
What was the cause of delayed release of season7b from spring to fall (November)?
Hurry Outlander. I’ve had some health issues and worry I won’t get to see the end.
I’d bet the series finale won’t happen until Spring 2026, and I think I’m being generous. I don’t even think Starz will live that long.
I remember being so excited about Breaking Bad, at one point, and hoping I lived long enough to get to the end.
I was hoping to see the rest of Season 7, I guess that won’t .n. Oh well. 😞
Awaiting with excitement for the next 7 series. It’s been too long. Hope 8. Isn’t as long to wait. I’m getting older and want to see your end.
I can’t believe we have to wait so.long, I am forever checking for it’s return, it is my favourite programme and I don’t like the massive wait we always have between series or in this case to see the other half of season 7
Absolute crap to release the second half of a season over a year after it started. You would just call season seven a short one and this is a short season eight. I just renewed my Starz but don’t even need it until then. Absolute crap.
November is not a return date. Its a return month.
They can really drag a good show out. I bet season 8 will be dragged out for years. Stars will increase its price and maybe add some ads. I hope l can hold on for 5 or 6 more years.
I’m glad I dropped Starz soon after the first half of the season last year since it’s the only thing I’m really interested on it. I’ll start my subscription again when Outlander finally returns.
Really We need to wait until November. What a rip off. It is finished, so why can’t they show it before November? I don’t know if Starz is doing this or the outlander people. Whoever is doing this shame on you. We have waited a long time to see part two
Very much so.cant wait
Please don’t stop outlander 😭😞 it’s the only show that I watch I hold my breath and wait for new episodes I can’t imagine my life without outlander it’s kinda weird cause I’ve never been it a show like that before
Looking forward to season seven, part two.
