Young and Old Sheldon join forces in an epic new video ahead of Young Sheldon‘s series finale.
In a TikTok promoting the Big Bang Theory prequel’s arrival on the video platform, series star Iain Armitage tries out a “new filter,” with an assist from Jim Parsons.
“So, apparently there’s a new filter that shows you what it looks like when you grow up,” Armitage says. “I don’t know how accurate it is going to be, but let me try it out.”
Then, upon tapping his screen, Parsons appears to assess the results. “Hmm, I’m not sure about this,” he says, before acknowledging that he and his 14-year-old counterpart sound nothing alike: “Oh! It changes your voice, too… I don’t like it!”
@youngsheldoncbs Yeah, we’re finally on TikTok bc we heard about these great filters… #YoungSheldon #filters #BigBangTheory #JimParsons @Iain Armitage

As previously reported, Parsons, along with Mayim Bialik, will reprise their roles as Drs. Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in Young Sheldon’s series finale, airing Thursday, May 16 (CBS, 8/7c) — exactly five years to the day since Big Bang signed off in 2019. This will mark the first time that Parsons and Bialik have appeared together on Young Sheldon, and the first time that anyone from Big Bang will appear in person, on screen, on the wildly successful spinoff.
Parsons, who is an executive producer on Young Sheldon, has served as narrator on all seven seasons, while Bialik has reprised Amy and served as co-narrator on two episodes.
Storyline details surrounding their return are being kept under wraps.
Young Sheldon, which stars Armitage as the future theoretical physicist, is told from the perspective of a more mature Sheldon, who is older than the version we last saw on Big Bang. Through his narration, we’ve learned that Sheldon and Amy go on to have multiple children — including a son named after Sheldon’s best friend, Leonard Hofstadter.
The prequel will be followed by a second Big Bang offshoot centered on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie (played by Montana Jordan) and his new wife Mandy (Emily Osment), which is slated to premiere on CBS during the 2024-25 TV season. Series co-creator Chuck Lorre is also working on a third Big Bang Theory series — a top-secret project “derived from” the CBS mega-hit that is earmarked for streaming service Max.
My least favorite part of Big Bang was Sheldon. JP is a good actor, but I did not enjoy Sheldon after the first few seasons. I enjoy Young Sheldon though, and put up with Parson’s narration. He was not needed in the finale, there are enough great characters on the show without bringing in JP and the adult Sheldon. Watching YS, it seemed Sheldon might grow out of some of Sheldon’ annoying behaviors. JP just reminds us, that he didn’t.
I’m looking forward to seeing Sheldon and Amy again. I loved those two on TBBT. I’ve been on a marathon binge of Young Sheldon to catch up so I can watch the finale. Young Sheldon is a great show. I’m only sorry I didn’t start watching it when it first premiered so I could have enjoyed it these last few years. As it is, I’m really enjoying it now. Highly recommend it.
Excited for the finale, even though I will miss the show! Will definitely watch the spin off
Stop dragging this dead race horse past its finish line umpteenth times over & accept enviable typecasting. This applies to both Ian & Jim. Look, we get it: It’s a shot in the balls to know you’re just another William Shatner & no matter what you do you’ll always be inexplicably linked to your first “iconic” role, but look at what YOU (two) have that Shatner never didn’t: Residuals!! You’re millionaires for life because of the crap you spewed out so why don’t you just accept defeat, cash your big cheques & stop trying to pretend there’s anything else for you & accept defeat… the 2 of you.
Who hurt you, sir? Talking about it can help.
No one hurt him, he/she is just a loser who is jealous of other’s achievements.
I’m sure many people will remember you in the future as they will enjoy TBBT and Sheldon. As Clint Eastwood said, “Your a legend in your own mind”. They achieve more in less than 2 decades than you will ever achieve.
I haven’t seen this show in ages and I understand why they canceled it. Young Sheldon isn’t “Young” anymore. That’s a man there. He’s definitely not that cute kid from season 1
If you haven’t seen it in ages, then how can you understand why it was cancelled???? Very perplexing. Additionally, 15 is still young by any standard.
For me watching this little vid just proves how well Young Sheldon was cast. When it switches to Jim’s face I could totally believe that’s Ian as an older man.
