            T20

Mahedi Hasan is an off-spin bowling all-rounder representing Bangladesh. Born in Khulna, Mahedi came up the ranks through junior cricket and made his first-class debut in 2015 for Khulna Division in the National Cricket League. A year later, in 2016, he made his maiden white-ball appearances with Gazi Group Cricketers in the List A format and Barisal Bulls in the T20 format. He could not impress much on his T20 debut but made everyone take notice with an impressive hundred on his List A debut while batting at number 3. However, he did not manage to get an instant call to the Bangladesh side and had to wait patiently for his opportunity. In 2018, he received his maiden T20I cap during the home series against Sri Lanka. Although he could not play a big role on his debut, he was in Bangladesh’s scheme of things as far as the white-ball setup was concerned. Due to his stellar showing in the List A and T20 formats, Mahedi was named in the Bangladesh squad for the ODI series in New Zealand. It was a tour to forget for Bangladesh, as they failed to win even a single game across both white-ball formats. Mahedi Hasan ended the T20I series as Bangladesh’s highest-wicket taker, and he was the silver lining for the visitors. Since his debut at the international level, he has featured more in the T20I format, but of late, he has been looked at as a player for the ODI format. When it comes to his experience in the franchise leagues, he is yet to ply his trade overseas. In the Bangladesh Premier League, Mahedi has been a part of the Khulna Tigers Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians.

Having been named in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad, Mahedi Hasan will be itching to contribute in both departments for Bangladesh. A crafty off-spinner like Mahedi is an asset to any team, and his batting credentials make him even more valuable.
