NEW DELHI: In a remarkable achievement, India opener Smriti Mandhana surpassed the 7000-run milestone in international cricket during the first ODI against South Africa at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
This feat places Mandhana in a prestigious group, as she becomes the second Indian woman to reach this landmark, following in the footsteps of former captain Mithali Raj, who amassed an impressive 10,868 runs throughout her distinguished career.

According to IANS, Harmanpreet Kaur, the current captain, is not far behind Mandhana, having scored 6,870 runs herself, highlighting the exceptional talent and consistency of India's batting lineup.
During the match, Mandhana showcased her skills with a brilliant knock of 117 runs off 127 balls, which included 12 fours and a six. This innings marked her first ODI century on home soil and her second against South Africa.
Throughout her sixth ODI century, Mandhana formed vital partnerships with Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vatrakar, propelling India's total beyond the 200-run mark.
Notably, Deepti Sharma also reached a significant milestone during her 37-run innings in her 200th international match, surpassing the 2000-run mark in ODI cricket.
The match commenced with Harmanpreet winning the toss and electing to bat first in the opening encounter of the three-game ODI series.
