In an exclusive interview with ETimes, actor Kalesh Ramanand shared his insights on the Vishu box office clash between the films ‘Aavesham’ and ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’. Despite the social media buzz around ‘Aavesham’, Kalesh Ramanand highlighted that it was ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ that connected more with family audiences.
Kalesh Ramanand, who played the pivotal role of a music director named Indradhanush in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’, reflected on the success of both films.
He stated, “Nowadays, writers and filmmakers have taken a firm decision not to rehash old ideas and bring in new concepts in films. As a result, the quality of the films has improved. Taking the case of ‘Aavesham’ and ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’, even though both films had different genres, both movies performed well at the box office.”

Further elaborating on the audience reception, Kalesh Ramanand added, “Even though ‘Aavesham’ created more ‘Aavesham’ (excitement) among social media users, it was ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ that turned out to be the favorite for the family audiences. When ‘Aavesham’ turned out to be a super hit, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ was a hit; that’s the only difference.”
He emphasized the profitability and satisfaction derived from both movies, saying, “Both movies were profitable ventures for the producers. That’s what we have to consider, right? Both movies dealt with different themes, different genres, and different target audiences. Both films have satisfied their target audiences.”
Kalesh Ramanand’s portrayal of Indradhanush received much appreciation, adding to his growing reputation as a versatile actor. His previous role as Selva in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s romantic drama ‘Hridayam’ also earned him significant acclaim. With his continued success, Kalesh Ramanand is proving to be a noteworthy talent in the Malayalam film industry.
