GVM says that he hated Madhavan for that, for making him go through what he thought was going to be an ordeal. As an admirer of Mani Ratnam, he believes that he cannot narrate his story to him. So he botched up the narration. But somehow the film happened.
In a previous interview, Gautam Vasudev Menon mentioned that Mani Ratnam was not impressed by the ‘Minnale’ script. However, Madhavan agreed to do the film with him as he felt bad due to the incident. The film, which also featured Abbas and Reema Sen in key roles, was released in 2001.
It had a remake in Hindi, ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein,’ where Madhavan reprised his role, while Dia Mirza shared the screen with him.
