Huntington Bank accepts donations to support victims of Grand Rapids mass murder tragedy

GRAND RAPIDS -- Huntington Bank said today it has created an account to accept donations to support the families and individuals connected with Thursday's tragic shootings and hostage situation in Grand Rapids.

Donations will be managed by a team coordinated through the offices of Grand Rapid Mayor George Heartwell and Police Chief Kevin Belk to provide financial assistance for related needs.

Donations can be made at any the 43 Huntington branch offices in West Michigan encompassing Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo and Muskegon. Huntington is seeding the account with a $10,000 donation.

"We are just trying to do what we can," said Michael Lindley, senior vice president for the bank. "It's a devastating event. We hope we can create an event for the community to reach out and support these families."
