South Park is the Best neighborhood in the city by far-yes I'm biased but you aren't gonna find too many peeps living here that disagrees.

I grew up in San Diego, and am a big fan of Central San Diego, however, I don't know what the boundaries of South Park are.

I'd like to walk the area, and am wondering where where a good place to start would be, and what would be good streets to cover?

South Park boundaries are: A street to the south, 28th to the west, 32nd street canyon to the east and Switzer canyon to the north.
I would walk on 28th, 29th street and Granada from Ash to Juniper to take in the houses and park adjacent views-also Burlingame- then hit the "village" areas Juniper and 30th- lots of cool building renovations going on there- and Beech and Ash where Hamilton's Pub and Grant's Market are.
Definitely hit the next walkabout to take it all in with the neighbors. If you have a dog you will feel right at home-its a great walking neighborhood.

Where else in San Diego can you walk to downtown and have a garden like this?

I spent the afternoon driving and walking around South Park. I got a kick out of the many "Barack for President", "NEA for Barack" and "Hillary Clinton Supporter for Barack" signs, plus the "No on Prop. 8" and "No Education cuts" signs. I would certainly be among like minds in this neighborhood! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and stuffed myself on Luigi's pizza. I particularly enjoyed the beautiful homes on San Marcos street. What a diverse area, it was so interesting seeing the variety of folks walking the neighborhood, gardening, etc.

South Park is definitely one of my neighborhoods and if I didn't live in Kensington, I'd be living there. Great walkability and housing stock, canyons, views, close to North Park, downtown and Balboa Park, what more can you ask for?

The Walkabout is alot of fun, too.

No visit to South Park is complete unless you've had breakfast at The Big Kitchen (Whoopie Goldberg worked there before she made it big). "Judy the Beauty" is one of a kind. Talk about a greasy spoon! Fantastic diner atmosphere filled with more hipsters than one can handle.

Hopefully, you drove down Granada St. to see the beautiful homes and views towards downtown and Point Loma.

I had plans to have lunch at Big Kitchen, but it was closed by the time I made it. I'll be back! Actually, South Park reminded me a lot of Kensington, with a bit more of the "keeping it real". Luigi's was stuffed with the hipster crowd. Somehow I think I don't manage to quite pull it off, but definitely enjoyed the people watching.

I don't think I saw Granada, but I'm going to ask for a guided tour from T. Damon and his dog.

sdurbanite knows his neighborhoods. We met up with Whoopie in New England where she was bar-tending recently and told her we were from South Park and that Judy said hello- that got her attention- she directed us to give Judy a big hug for her and of course that was an easy directive to do.
I love Kensington too, beautiful neighborhood-I have many friends starting families there-but my sweet Spanish Revival home on the canyon -Yes, on Granada no less-would disappear among the throngs of similar there. Because South Park is older (yes, that was its original name 100 years ago-although Judy will never call it South Park lol) there are fewer Spanish style and mine stands out a bit more. And the funkiness of South Park/Golden Hill is more my style. I'll look forward to taking Suzer for a tour and compare/contrast our urban and canyon rimmed neighborhoods with sdurbanite over a beer at Hamilton's-or the Kensington club.

What's also funny is that I live in one of the few cottage style homes (Built in 1928) in Kensington, and it definitely sticks out among the many Spanish style homes in the area.

I had breakfast at Big Kitchen yesterday morning, and I got to do a friendly "drive by" of T. Damon's house, which was so charming and definitely getting lots of TLC! Lovely morning.

I checked out the house for sale on your street, T., and they are asking almost 1 million for it! Yikes! Good investment you made.
