Thunder Bayou Environmental Assessment

Welcome to the official site for the City of Blytheville, Arkansas, where southern hospitality begins. Blytheville is located in northeastern Arkansas along Interstate 55 between St. Louis, Missouri and Memphis, Tennessee. Blytheville is in the heart of the Delta with soy beans, cotton and rice as the main farm crops. The chief industry in the area is steel, consisting of several steel mills producing a variety of products and many supporting satellite industries.

There are many cultural opportunities in Blytheville. The Arts Council of Mississippi County offers a variety of programs at the Ritz Civic Center throughout the year. There is also Act II, a local little theater group, as well as community choirs for all ages. That Bookstore in Blytheville sponsors two book clubs which meet at the store to read and discuss all types of literature. There are also frequent book signings featuring famous authors.

Recreational activities in the area include several parks which offer playgrounds and picnic facilities for the public. Walker Park has a swimming pool and tennis courts for the enjoyment of the citizens.

Blytheville is also proud of its state of the art Youth Sportsplex for baseball, soft ball and soccer which is utilized by hundreds of children each year. Several tournaments are held there each year, bringing many visitors to our city.

The Thunder Bayou Golf links is an eighteen hole course which is on the Arkansas Natural Golf Trail, and is becoming well known as a great course to play. Many of the civic organizations in the area sponsor tournaments at Thunder Bayou to raise funds for their causes.
