Northern Coordination Dept. records, 1959-1968
The series consists of records of the Northern Coordination Dept. of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) from 1959-1968. The administrative files (1959-1966) consist of correspondence, memoranda, mailing lists, newspaper clippings, and printed material relating to the activities of the Department. Of particular interest are records reflecting SNCC's efforts to establish bail funds to aid civil rights workers jailed in the South. The general correspondence files (1960-1967) and the correspondence with other organizations contain letters to and from coordinators Ruby Doris Smith Robinson and Sandra Cason Hayden regarding general matters and with church, civil rights, and labor organizations. Files relating to fund raising (1960-1968) contain correspondence, printed materials and mailing lists relating to SNCC's efforts to raise money for its programs
