  We loved this museum! Fascinating mix of war time objects and salvaged planes. Really interesting stories told of the aircraft and war time and lives tragically ended too soon.

Lots if memorabilia - most of it donated by families of WW11... read more RAF pilots and personel. Run by very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. We had a very enjoyable couple of hours there. Maybe not for very young children but certainly would recommend a visit. It will make you realise how brave these young men were.

This is a quite... read more staggering collection of 12,000+ artefacts and effects from the Second World War. By chance, I was seeing tge rarest of Pacific War aircraft with a visiting chool party of Japanese students and aeroplane remains from the Asian tundra with a family of Russians, in this museum which encourages a hands on, engaged and wonderfully informative approach. I've sat in cockpits, cocked a Lee Enfield, rung a scramble bell, sat in an Austin 7, heard an air-raid siren, peered through a Spitfire's reflective gunsight, been shown some significant reatorations and so much more.

The volunteers are exactly as they should be - welcoming, helpful, passionate and go above and beyond to make your visit perferct. The potential relocation and upscaling of the museum to new premises is very, very exciting and I look forward to supporting it and all that it stands for, long into the future. The only negative was one of my own-making, that simply being that I had never visited before now. This place is incredible.

  This is a great little aviation / WW2 museum. I enjoyed it even more than I expected too; my three year old daughter enjoyed it too, which was a bonus.

The Dakota is from tv series Band of Brothers which you can go inside. You can also sit inside cockpit of Chipmunk (it's a bit tight!) 🙂

This is a good place for any child or adult with an interest in WW2 or aircraft.

Ended up chatting to him for a... read more quite a while about the origins of the museum and the issue they have of inadequate space, due to the size of their collection!

Once we got into the museum, the warm welcome continued! We were greeted by a team of friendly and it turned out, rather excitable men! Especially when 4 guys in their mid 20’s turn up!

Within 5 mins, we were being offered a little treat! (I won’t spoil it, in case you’re lucky enough to get shown!) One of the gentlemen took time out of his day to go through the average cockpit whilst sat in an open canopy! And with him being a pilot, couldn’t have anyone better to show us, basically, how to fly!

But, they were also understanding enough to leave us to ourselves to some exploring, with the odd explanation about items we may have missed (there’s a tonne of bits for you to go see)

A great exhibition they have is one of the planes used in the Band Of Brothers TV series, which you have the opportunity to go into and explore!

Overall, the volunteers were nothing but outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and look forward to the future of the museum with the move to a bigger site!

  Visiting on a rainy Sunday morning with my husband and 4yr old. My husband is a military history enthusiast and was blown away with just how much was crammed into... read more the builder! Parts of planes, bombs, guns, uniform...the list goes on. Theres even an old officer mess door!
The guys who were volunteering were full of knowledge and couldn't have been more helpful. They let our son sit in a cockpit and were happy to help out. During the week, the radio shack is open, where you can come down and use the old 2 way radios.
This really is a hidden gem and ideal for anyone who is interested in history or for kids learning about WW2 at school

The museum is in a hangar and can get a tad warm when the sun is out but there was air coming in from the door. The museum has so much in it that you don't know what to look at first. There's a great array of war artifacts and it's quite touching seeing some of the stories. The gentleman were very helpful and informative. I would recommend here for anyone with even a slight interest in World war and or aviation.

The exhibits were accompanied by plenty of information and often accompanied by information about those involved, not just those who gave their lives but those who survived. While looking at a restored aeroplane is great, being able to see the salvaged aircraft and other items makes it all the more interesting. A great find.

  We visited the Museum yesterday. The star attraction was the start up of a renovated Merlin engine from a crashed Halifax bomber. This was a considerable engineering feat and is... read more a superb example of dedication and hard work - typical of the Museum. What is so delightful is the variability of the collection of items. Of particular interest amongst many items was the fuselage of the Bell P-63 recovered from Russia, the restored Austin 7 and the C-47. As one might expect, the staff were very knowledgeable, full of good humour and unstuffy.

I... read more made a joke about shrapnel in the title but it seems like all the personal collections from all the schoolboys collecting this at the time has been utilised which is really touching, Bearing in mind it was life and death for the airmen it seems quite appropriate in a way and the fate of a lot of them is detailed in the exhibit.

Not as good as Tangmere,but still worth the effort.
