University of Greifswald

Looking back on the Dies academicus 2024

On 29 May, the University celebrated its second dies academicus. The programme started with the honouring of staff members’ outstanding achievements. Teaching Prizes, the DAAD Prize and two Sustainability Prizes were awarded. The Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Hamburg, Jason Chue, held a keynote speech and signed his name in the university’s guest book. Further programme items included musical contributions by the Uni BigBand, experiments with smoke and explosions, a celebratory lecture and information booths in the afternoon. Over light refreshments, coffee and cake, there was plenty of opportunity for conversation.

Testimonial Oriana Sánchez

"During my time in Greifswald, I continued working on my thesis and attended different lectures such as Vegetation Ecology, Conservation Genetics and Plant Experimental Biology. Not only did I deepen my theoretical and experimental knowledge during this time, I also grew as a person. If I had to summarise my experience in Greifswald and generally abroad, I would generally say that it was fantastic. So, if you are thinking about going on this trip as well, don't be afraid and start preparing your luggage." (Oriana from Colombia)
