The preference of mice for a 0.1% solution of saccharin in a situation involving free choice
seems to be primarily regulated at a single locus for which the designation Sac is proposed.
The allele present in the C57BL/6J strain of mice, Sacb, is dominant over Sacd, found in the
DBA/2J strain, and results in higher preference scores.
