Bacterial biofilms at times undergo regulated and coordinated dispersal events where
sessile biofilm cells convert to free-swimming, planktonic bacteria. In the opportunistic
pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa, we previously observed that dispersal occurs
concurrently with three interrelated processes within mature biofilms:(i) production of
