Tusk sworn in as Poland's new PM
Polish President Lech Kaczynski (L) greets PM Donald Tusk in Warsaw on 14 November
Mr Tusk has pledged to mend strained relations with the EU
The leader of Poland's liberal Civic Platform party, Donald Tusk, has been sworn in as the country's next prime minister by President Lech Kaczynski.

Mr Tusk replaces the president's twin brother, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, whose socially conservative Law and Justice party lost last month's elections.

Mr Tusk has promised to mend strained ties with Poland's European neighbours.

His centre-right coalition with the Peasants' Party must now win a vote of confidence in parliament.

That is expected to be a formality as both parties together have a majority of seats.

Mr Tusk has also promised to withdraw Poland's 900-strong military commitment to Iraq in 2008 and speed up the pace of economic reform.
