    On this day in 1894, 1922 Indianapolis 500 winner Jimmy Murphy was born in San Francisco. He also drove the Duesenberg he used to win at Indianapolis to win the French Grand Prix in 1921.

    Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser won consecutive races in 1970 and 1971. His likeness from 1970 is the last one on the Borg-Warner Trophy to feature a driver wearing a helmet. With full-face helmets becoming standard, his 1971 likeness showed his natural hair.
